At Third Room, we hold space for empowerment of individuals through collective gatherings around art and making. Through open access programming, collaborative participation, and a collective love-ethic, we are able to support artists and activists that can do the most with the least. We believe in the transformative power of a solidarity economy, and in the ethos that art making is for everyone. We prioritize work that exists outside the market and are not interested in what the cannon, taste, or trend has to say in terms of what holds value. We believe that togetherness is art’s most powerful impact; and as artists we thrive on a basis of autonomy, joy, and access. What more do we need more than space and each other?
our programming is in response to collective resilience in action through radical imagination and self-creation.
we support the efforts of those who have acted in service of what we see as the Good Work (see: sincerity practices).
we acknowledge there is great sacrifice for many embedded in this endeavor, be it financial, professional, emotional or physical.
here we come together as artists, scholars and activists to remind ourselves of the invaluable impact we have on each other in our community,
and develop strategies for supporting and sustaining social welfare and growth in our practices on the long road ahead.
